Happy Saturday, friends! In case you're new-ish around here, I'm Rachel. I live in northern Michigan with my husband and our 3 tiny people. I was in an inexplicable funk all morning, so I went for a quick snowshoe. The fresh air and sunshine did a world of good! What do you do when you need a pick-me-up?
I made a salad for a family dinner this past Sunday, and I've been enjoying the leftovers for lunch ever since. Note to self: when you have a yummy salad pre-assembled in your fridge, you're much more likely to eat a healthy lunch. I'm going to try to make it a thing next week, too!
And it keeps coming down! This time last year, I was smack in the middle of first trimester pregnancy and feeling miserable. This winter looks completely different, and I'm so grateful! I can shovel our front deck and walkways. I can help Julia sled on our snow piles. I can cook dinner. All without feeling like I'm dying! Some aspects of life are a lot more challenging, but I'll take this winter over last year any day of the week. What are you grateful for this morning?
Sledding: teaching important lessons of hard work and perseverance with every step back up the hill 😂
As much as I hate to admit it, there really is a certain beauty to all this snow.
One year ago today, we walked into my doctor's office. I was almost 10 weeks pregnant, and was so hopeful all was well and the baby was fine. One year ago today, I watched the ultrasound screen and wondered how my doctor knew what she was looking at- there were so many blobs! • One year ago today, we walked out of that office clutching the proof of not just 1 healthy baby, but 2 (two!) healthy babies with 2 strong heartbeats. • So much has changed in the last 365 days. It's been hard, it's been good, and I'm glad to be on this side of it. So many of the questions we had on that sunny, winter day are answered. The newborn fog is lifting. And life with these 2 little people gets better by the day.
We took advantage of the relatively warm temperature and some free childcare (thanks, @ruthboonzaaijer and @naomiboonzaaijer!) and went snowshoeing this afternoon. It felt so good to move and breathe some fresh air! What are you up to this weekend?
Real life, friends: things are getting a little cabin fever-y over here. So we turned on the TV and we're snuggled in together watching a show while the babies nap. She likes the show, I like the snuggles. It's a win-win, really.
Happy Tuesday, friends! Is today a snow day for you? What's the plan? We're hunkered down inside with no plans to brave the sub-zero windchills. There's plenty more coffee where this came from, and I have some fun activities up my sleeve for Julia. It'll be a good day!
