If you’re anything like me, you’re doing a ton of online shopping this Christmas season. Maybe you have little kids at home. Or maybe you don’t love, love the hustle and bustle of the mall on the weekends. Regardless, shopping … Continue reading
I just love the farmer’s market in this county. It’s small, yes. But the prices are reasonable and it’s all locally grown produce. I’m not so much of a fan of “farmer’s markets” that sell bananas in October in MI. Because, obviously, bananas don’t grow in MI. Ever. Let alone in October. My one exception for this rule is the Soulard in St. Louis. A small piece of my soul resides there, I’m pretty sure.
I digress. I gave myself a $10 limit today, just to see how much loot I could get for under that amount. I spent $9.65 and got:
- a pound of tomatoes…getting to the tail end of tomato season 😦 Until next year, fresh tomatoes!
- 4 bell peppers…2 green, 1 red, 1 yellow
- a 1/4 peck of gala apples (apples are back! apples are back! apples are back!)
- 3 ears of sweet corn
- an acorn squash
- an eggplant (it’s so cute!)
- a pound of green beans
Not so shabby, eh?
In other news, it’s chilly outside! As in high of 66 degrees today. Bring on the fall. I’m trying to embrace the coming season and all of the things that I love about it (apples, cinnamon, pumpkin, spice cookies, cider, crisp air, cooler running temps….) as opposed to focusing on the impending winter. Because….well. I’m just not ready for snow quite yet. I’ll get there, though. I will.
What do you like about fall? Ready or not….it’s coming!
