Saturday Small Talk

Is it really the weekend before Thanksgiving? How did that happen? I know Thanksgiving is early this year, but honestly!

This weekend, I’m hanging out in Indiana and loving it. Good food, good conversations, good friends. I can’t ask for much more than this! This refreshment and perspective is exactly what I needed!

I want to give curtain making a shot for our kitchen windows. This DIY from Fika Home is really helpful!

Check out these mini meatloafs. So adorable, and so tasty looking!

I’m always on the lookout for an easy, fluffy biscuit recipe. I’ve tried biscuits a couple of times, and haven’t quite reached “light and fluffy.” Maybe this recipe from love and olive oil is where it’s at!

Christmas recipes are coming! Christmas recipes are coming! These Avalanche Bark Bars look simply amazing. Part chocolate, part peanut butter, part marshmallow, part rice crispies. Amazing.

Welcome to the first day of summer. The calendar has made the season official. Summer is upon us. Joy!

Here are some recipes to get you in the spirit of summer eats.

Stuffed Strawberries: Cream cheese and powdered sugar, stuffed into a strawberry.

Summertime Noodles with Sweet Balsamic Dressing: a cold pasta dish filled with fresh, summer veggies.

Grilled Pizza: I had no idea. I can’t wait to try it. Maybe even chicken breast pizza style.

Strawberry Whipped Cream: light, airy and perfect for a summery cake.

Marshmallows and graham crackers: it’s not summer without a s’more!

Lemon Sorbet: four simple ingredients to one refreshing dessert.

Strawberry Lime Granita: four ingredients as well, and sugar free to boot!

Grilled Sweet Corn and Beer Can Chicken: some things just go together.

Homemade Ranch Dressing: ‘Tis the season for salads and veggie dipping.

Prosciutto Wrapped Caprese Chicken Wraps: Yum.

Ice Cream Sandwiches: Just like you find in the store. Just infinitely better.

Iced Coffee: Who needs Starbucks?

Lemonade: From real lemons. With real sugar. Summer in a glass.

October recap

October was a good month. Most of it was spent sitting on the couch and not walking, but I survived. Phew. On to bigger and better (and more mobile) things!

In October, I canned apples.

Other than that, I didn’t cook much, but have big plans for November. I love the holidays!

I learned how to knit. Now I want to procure some circular needles so that I can do more awesome stuff.

I went to two weddings.

I ditched my cast, and traded it in for a walking boot.

I didn’t learn about soaking beans, but I intend to become great at it next month. Cooking on a budget, anyone?

I was a pirate Saturday night…peg leg and all!
