Saturday Small Talk

Hi, folks! It’s Saturday, and that’s fun. What are you up to this weekend? I’m running a triathlon this morning (YAY!), and enjoying a rest day tomorrow.

After this race, I’m looking forward to changing up my fitness routine a bit. I found a class I love at our Y on Friday mornings, and I’d like to start doing more weights and resistance training, less straight-up cardio. Any recommendations? Books or plans you’ve done and loved?

Hot Whiskey Sling

This past weekend, I had a sinus infection. All of my sinus infections run the same course: 2 days of sore throat followed by 3 (or so) days of congestion. It’s a grand time (not). The moment I mentioned my sore throat for the first time, Bob offered a hot whiskey sling. Tastes good, soothes the throat, and is all natural. Yes, please. You’ll need:

  • 1 shot whiskey
  • 2 shots hot water
  • 1, 2, or 3 Tbs. honey (depending on your desired sweetness)
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • Dash nutmeg

1. In a microwavable mug, combine all ingredients, except the nutmeg. A note: 3 Tbs. of honey will make it really sweet–so sweet you can’t taste the whiskey. It’s up to you how much you want.

2. Stir to combine. Microwave for a minute. Sprinkle a dash of nutmeg on top.
