The babies turned one a couple of months ago. It felt like such a gigantic milestone! Getting to this point after 8.5 months of twin pregnancy and then one year of having two infants was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. If that isn’t cause for a party, I don’t know what is!
I know big parties–especially parties for guests of honor who won’t remember them–aren’t for everyone, but I loved choosing a theme and designing decorations and planning a fun event. I found some great The Very Hungry Caterpillar ideas on the internet, and went from there!
Our dinner was all of the food the hungry caterpillar ate on Saturday. Basically…a bunch of junk food and dessert! We had brats, watermelon, swiss cheese, salami, chocolate cake, cherry pie, lollipops, and ice cream cones.
It was such a fun night and we’re so grateful to our family and friends for coming to celebrate with us. They’ve supported us in so many ways in the past year. It truly does take a village, and we’re so grateful for ours.
Happy birthday, sweet babies! We sure do love you and are so glad we get to be your family. We’re excited to see where your next year of life takes us all!
Thanks to Darcy for all of the fantastic photos of the evening. I wish I could share them all! She and her husband are going to head off on their catamaran to cruise the Bahamas this winter and spring. Check out her blog and follow her on Instagram for more of her stunning photos and fun adventures.
