On Twins: 24 Weeks

These babies will more than likely be here in 3 months! Craziness. According to the interwebs, each baby is roughly the size of an ear of corn, a cantaloupe, a chinchilla, or a kitten. Take your pick 🙂 And there are two of them squished in there, which never ceases to amaze me. I’m pretty sure it won’t feel entirely real until I’m laying in that hospital bed snuggling two (2!) newborns.

Here’s a quick update on how things are going.

Feeling…more and more pregnant by the day (for comparison, here’s the 18 week bump)! I had a chiropractor appointment this past week to straighten things out and encourage these breech babies to flip around. He’s optimistic they will, so I’m hopeful! A c-section wouldn’t be the end of the world, but if I can avoid it, I’d like to.

Accomplishing…a bunch of projects! We painted the nursery–walls, ceiling, trim, the whole shebang– and I finally picked out curtains for the windows. I took down the mirrored closet doors and their gold trim, so now the closet is open to the room. Do I leave it? Hang a curtain rod/curtain? Find other doors? I’ll do a post when it’s all put together!

Enjoying…finally feeling these little ones’ kicks and punches. They’re still in the cute stage (as opposed to the painful, get them out of here stage), and it’s so fun to feel them move.

Looking forward to…another ultrasound! Perk of having twins is getting some extra ultrasounds. I love seeing these babies squirm.

Planning on…stocking my freezer with meals for after the babies get here. Send me all of your tried and true freezer meal ideas! My goal is to have a month of meals stocked up.

Craving….all the fresh food! I bought a watermelon this week and have eaten more than my fair share of it. It tastes so good!

Loving….the fact that we pretty much went from winter to summer. Winter seemed to hang on much longer than normal, but now we’re enjoying temperatures in the 70’s and plenty of sunshine. This weekend, I’m headed to the greenhouse to get plants for some hanging baskets and our vegetable garden.

Celebrating…. Julia turning two! It’ll be so fun to celebrate our sweet girl this weekend and next week.

It’s hard to believe that this time next month I’ll be in my third trimester. Woohoo! I’m still terrified about having two newborns at once, but am also excited to embark on this twin journey.

If you are a twin mom, are there any books about twins I should read? I loved Double Time and skimmed through When You’re Expecting Twins, Triplets, or Quads. I’d love to find a great book on the first year of twin life–breastfeeding, sleep scheduling, etc. Comment below with recommendations!
