2011 in review

Whoa. What a year! Looking back on my goals at the beginning of the year, I realize that I didn’t do such a stellar job of sticking to them. I didn’t:

  • Do a triathlon
  • Save as much as I wanted to in my baby Roth (but I did save some!)
  • Memorize the music I wanted to
  • Go backpacking
  • Roll my kayak

But I did some really rockin’ stuff!

I’ve done a lot of cooking. I made some great progress on my 101 in 1001 list. Am I on track for the deadline? I don’t think so. But that’s OK!

I went on some great weekend trips: Chicago, Winter Carnival (upper peninsula), Iowa (several times), Michigan (several times), Mississippi, Virginia, the Boundary Waters, and Dallas.

I’ve done a bunch of do it yourself projects, including maki rolls, yogurt, green onions, and laundry detergent.

I’ve started counting my thankfulness-es and attempted to expresses that thanks to others more regularly.  I’d say I’ve reached the point that it’s a habit. And it’s a habit that I never want to get out of.

I jumped out of a perfectly good airplane. Twice!

I tried my hand at gardening.

I froze and canned fruits and veggies.

I learned how to knit.

And last but certainly not least, I rang the year out on the beautiful island of Hawaii!

2011 was, in some ways, full of a lot of pain and hurt. In other ways, it was one of my happiest years yet. Here’s looking to 2012, and all of the good things it has in store!
