Freezing 5K: Mayflower 2010

I woke up Saturday morning to a thermometer reading 24 degrees. Give or take. Oh boy.  Perfect weather to head outside and a run a race 🙂 Or something…

Thankfully, the wonderful race volunteers went out that morning and spread copious amounts of salt, so there was no ice to be seen on the course.

Snow!

Number pinned…

So ready! Let’s do this!

The race went really well! I like the course. It’s not super interesting, but it’s very straight forward.

  • Mile 1: 8:55
  • Mile 2: 9:20
  • Mile 3.1: 10:25
  • TOTAL: 28:40

Much warmer post-race:

All in all, I’m pleased with my time. I went into this race wanting to run strong and finish in under 30 min. Done and done! Time goal for next 5K (Turkey Trot) is under 28 minutes. I think I can do it. I’m going to add in a sprints session at the track 3 times between now and Thanksgiving Day. Project for tomorrow is to draw up training plan with goals (times/negative splits).

I hope that you all had a great weekend!
