There are days when I’m really glad that I run. Today was one of those days. It’s been a long week at work, and I needed an outlet. I needed to do something. I needed to challenge myself, even just a little. Bring on a 3 mile run with Lindsey after work. She’s great. Runs with her are always better than runs without.
It’s not always like this. In fact, most often, running turns into a task. Something to check off the to do list. But today, my run was calming.
At the same time, it was energizing. It gave my brain focus.
It woke me up.
It made life seem not quite as fruitless.
I didn’t feel lazy anymore.
In fact, I kind of felt like I could conquer the world.
While I ran, I listened to Lady Antebellum, Brahms’ Violin Sonata (D minor), Derek Webb, Vienna Teng. Random. But good.
I’m glad I’m a runner.
