I painted my office today! As I’m just moving in and intend to rearrange anyways, it was now or never on the painting front. While I was in town running errands this morning, I stopped by the recycling center to score from free paint (really! If you’re not picky on the color, check out your local recycling center to see if they have a similar program). Their colors were pretty limited, so that made choosing easy. I ended up leaving with a partial gallon of yellow and a partial gallon of white. I added the white to the yellow (it needed to be toned down, anyway) in order to multiply the amount of paint I had. Here the new digs before:
After mixing the paints, I had nearly a full gallon. Thinking that would be enough, I set to work. My gallon was gone after two walls. What?! The office isn’t that big! I blame this occurrence on really thick paint and textured walls. So, we trekked off to Walmart and the adorable older man in the paint department match the color for me. Really, I wish I had a picture of this guy; he was that sweet. But I thought that could get awkward, so I restrained myself.
Once we (we being me and Lindsey…thanks for your help, Lindsey!) got back, we knocked out the other two walls (where knocked out=painted), only to find that the color where I started painting was much brighter than the color where I finished painting with that first gallon. Turns out my mad paint mixing skills weren’t so mad after all.
The result was the back corner of the room having two walls painted two distinctly different shades of yellow. Thankfully, there was enough paint left for a second coat on the back wall, which evened out the color discrepancy. And we all lived happily ever after.
Welcome to Day 3 of the grand sprout adventure! For the past couple of days, we’ve been rinsing 2 to 3 times a day. Like so.
P.S. The raspberry pie I made yesterday turned out great! It can now be found under the Recipes I Love tab. Which, coincidentally, is turning into Desserts I Love. I’ll attempt to change that. Promise.
