There are just those days…

When, despite your best efforts, a work out just doesn’t fit. And you know what? That’s OK. Life is more than schedules. Unexpected things happen. And it’s OK. That said, no run for Rachel today.

Our faculty devotion today was an excellent talk on perfectionism. I’m a horrible perfectionist. I have this “all or nothing” mentality. I either work out for an hour a day. every day. Or, I don’t work out at all. I don’t indulge my sweet tooth at all. Or I eat a dozen cookies. I practice 3 hours a day. Or I don’t touch a piano.

What a destructive mindset! That’s part of what this blog is about: finding the balance in healthy living and moderation. It is possible to live a healthy life and still enjoy the occasional cold beer, an ice cream cone, or some cookies and milk.

It’s a balancing act. When do you indulge a bit? When do you say no? Is it really worth it? Will you savor each bite? Would a smaller portion satisfy the craving just as well?

  1. OMG, I’m totally the same. I’ll go crazy and then not for a bit. Like, my vacation this week! We ate soooo horribly and now all I’ve bought at the grocery store were fruits/veggies (ok and a candy bar, hehe).

But I feel ya! I woke up still sick this morning at 6:30 when my alarm went off. Instead of running, I opted to doze for another hour πŸ™‚

    • Apparently my computer didn’t save my new blog linked to my name πŸ™‚ awesome….need to figure that one out!

    • I’m generally SO BAD on vacations. It’s all about what you do with it, right? Bounce back, get back to healthy moderation, and everything will even out in the wash πŸ™‚

  2. “I practice 3 hours a day. Or I don’t touch a piano.” Ahahaha. I can totally relate. I don’t have a good answer for you, though…except maybe grace for those days when we don’t meet our own expectations, much less God’s?:-)
